The alarm began blaring disgustingly early; she had not woken up this early in quite some time. The sheets were strewn around her legs, not even covering her naked body anymore. She had taken a lesson with a new trainer yesterday; what a workout that had been. She got home late, went out for some drinks, then didn't have the energy or the mobility to pull pajamas on before passing out for the night. Virginia squeezed her eyes shut against the pain of a nasty headache before finally shutting off the irritating alarm clock. She pulled the sheets up to her chin and rolled over before remembering she had set the alarm so early to get to the barn and work her ass off for a few hours. She wondered idly to herself why she had picked such an expensive hobby to get into. Gin kicked off the sheets with a huge groan and slipped into a silken bathrobe that had been used for better purposes. She tied it loosely, not concerned if some skin was exposed, just as long as her shoulders were covered. She felt like puking, passing out, and staying in the house all day instead of getting up to the barn and sweating like mad. She didn't mind hard work, not in the least, but when she was hungover she wasn't exactly in the workman mindset. Perhaps she should plan her nights around the mornings she had work anymore. All of this was thought through as she took a warm shower, doing her best to hurry but feel refreshed at the same time. In the end though, she her comfort was thrown out the window as she rushed to get to the barn in time to start the morning chores. Virginia was unhappy, to say the least, but threw her still wet hair into a high ponytail, pinned her bangs back, and threw some clothes in shoes on. Within fifteen minutes of waking up, she was jumping into the car on an empty stomach with an awful headache; great way to start her day off. When Virginia got to the barn, she sat in the car for a few moments, eyes shut tightly against the bright sun streaming into her windshield. She searched around in the glove compartment for some Tylenol, but came up empty. With a slightly pained and aggravated sigh, she stepped out of the car into the early heat, pulling her shorts down as she walked. She supposed a white t-shirt wasn't exactly the best choice for working at the barn, but she had less than ample time to pick out an outfit for barn work. On her shoulder was a small tote which held her cell phone (turned off, of course), water bottle, and a few dollars in case she wanted to go out later. Since she didn't have work tomorrow, she seriously considered it. It would be nice to get plastered and be able to sleep in for once. As she thought, she walked, and as she walked, she kept her head tilted and eyes on the ground. It was much too bright to be looking around so she kept her head down until she was in the cool shade of the barn. A small smile lit up her face as the scent of horses and leather caressed her nose. Virginia stopped for a moment, looking around her with an unsure look. Somebody was supposed to be here to show her the ropes of the barn but there didn't seem to be anybody around at the moment. A few lights were on but there was no sign of another person, or horses for that matter. All of the stalls were thrown open; it was apparent the horses hadn't been brought in for the morning. Gin's brows furrowed in frustration as she continued to look for somebody to help her out. In the end, she began walking towards the lounge, hoping there would be some kind of pain reliever to be found in there. Once in the lounge, Virginia crept to the bathroom and began searching through the medicine cabinet, hoping that something was in there. She didn't think she'd be able to work with a headache this terrible. With a yelp, she discovered a bottle of Advil hiding behind some other medicinal products and quickly dumped three of the pills out into her hand. She left the room, shutting off all the lights as she went and practically ran back to her tote that she had left by a flight of steps. After she had taken the medicine, she continued her search for another person to help her, impatiently waiting for the Advil to kick in. |
